1. What are your nicknames at the club?
I often go by multiple nicknames at the club, some not so shareable, but I often get “Doc” or “Pathan!”
2. When did you join Chads and why?
I joined Chads in October 2023. The main reason I joined was because after moving to Leeds permanently, I was looking for an inclusive family-friendly cricket club with many opportunities to play competitively and socially. I came across Chads online and found exactly what I was looking for, and it lived up to everything I hoped for and more.
3. Which other clubs have you played for?
After taking a massive hiatus from cricket post-University, I joined Hailsham Cricket Club in East Sussex for 4 years. I then moved to Yorkshire and joined Harrogate Cricket Club for 2 years before joining Chads.
4. What is your most memorable Chads match or moment?
My most memorable match for Chads was in a game last season where I took my first 5fer! Great moment for me personally.
5. Who are your all-time top three Chads players?
My all-time top 3 Chads players are Kamran Khan, Dan Butterworth, and Hassan Akhtar. Kamran is possibly the nicest guy in cricket with the most cracking moustache you’ll ever see. Dan was my first captain and apart from being a solid all-rounder, he helped me settle into the club and feel comfortable. Hassan helped me ease into my first few practice sessions at the club and is a run-making machine, one of the reasons the 1st XI is so successful.
6. What are your top three self-promotion facts?
- I’m multi-lingual with a unique British African Asian background which helps me communicate and connect with other members at our club, and also the opposition!
- I've been playing cricket for as long as I can remember and am half decent at it. Well……at least I’d like to think so!
- I’d like to also think I’m a friendly, humourous kinda guy who’s approachable.
7. What tune would you most like to go out to bat to?
“Lose Yourself” by Eminem or “Gonna Fly Now” - Rocky Theme song
8. Which sportsperson do you compare yourself to and why?
Steven Gerrard - Captain, leader, Legend or Rodger Federer - GOAT. Both are sportsmen who came from humble beginnings and worked immensely hard on and off their field of play to become adored by their fans and rivals.
9. What do you love the most about Chads?
There are so many things to love about Chads. If I were to pick one thing, it would be the wonderful members that encompass this friendly cricket-loving club. There is a real sense of cohesion, inclusion, and fun. This stems from the people at the club.
10. What is your favourite part of the Chads ground and why?
My favourite part of the cricket ground is how close to my house it is!
11. What one thing would you change about the club?
The one thing I would like to see from the club is a larger social media/online presence to match the stature of the club, and celebrate our individual and collective achievements on a regular basis.
