1. What are your nicknames at the club?
I am mostly called Divy or Divi, and sometimes DK as well.
2. When did you join Chads and why?
I moved from India for work in the early summer of 2022 with limited knowledge of the cricket scene here. A quick Google led me to Chads, conveniently located from the city. I was immediately placed on a team and the action began. I was instantly captivated by the quality and abundance of cricket the club offers, a true delight for a cricket enthusiast like myself. Joining Chads has been one of the best decisions I've made in the UK.
3. Which other clubs have you played for?
Back home, I played for KDB Cricket Club in and around Delhi. It's a mix of corporate and my university alumni players.
4. What is your most memorable Chads match or moment?
I have numerous memorable moments, starting with my first game with the mighty fifths. However, I'll highlight a couple:
The 1st XI away cup game stands out as my proudest moment. I captained the team due to the unavailability of our regular skipper. In a closely contested match, we triumphed over the home side, a remarkable achievement for our team. For someone who has played across all the senior teams at the club and moving the way up from 5s to 4s to 3s to 2s to leading the 1st XI and winning a game away is a moment I will cherish for long.
Second one on a personal note, my first and only century for the club during the 2024 season holds a special place. As a young cricketer, scoring a hundred is a dream for everyone. Achieving it here was the icing on the cake, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to share it with.
5. Who are your all-time top three Chads players?
It's challenging to limit it to three, as I've played with exceptional cricketers and wonderful individuals throughout my three seasons. My top picks are:
Sandipan Sarkar - There is something about left handed batters, so elegant to watch and a total class act. Sandipan fits into this description quite well as he brings his own swag. One of my close friends at the club and a top top cricketer. A genuine all rounder who still flies around the field like Jonty (watch out for that dodgy back though).
Will Griffiths - I have played with Will across multiple formats in the club and he has his own swag too. A great character and brings so much energy to any team that he plays for. I absolutely enjoy batting with him. A total gun player.
Dan Butterworth - A top bloke and an underrated cricketer. I have been playing with Dan for two seasons now and can totally vouch for how good a player and a person he is. Always puts the team first and he is an integral part of the club. A great character to be around.
6. What are your top three self-promotion facts?
I am a software engineer and 2025 would mark my 10th year in this field. I swear I didn't know I would come this far.
I'm a huge WWE fan. The Big Show once applied a chin lock on me.
I believe I possess decent FIFA/FC skills on PlayStation.
7. What tune would you most like to go out to bat to?
Big Dawgs by Hanumankind
8. Which sportsperson do you compare yourself to and why?
Dinesh Karthik (DK) - Both wicket keeper batters and the initials match as well.
9. What do you love the most about Chads?
Chads is more than just cricket – it's a whole vibe! Moving to a new country was tough, but the club and its awesome members made me feel right at home. I came here knowing nobody, and now I've made friends for life. All the cricket, the socials, and the constant stream of fun events – it's been amazing. A huge shoutout to everyone who puts in the effort to make Chads, such a welcoming place. Nothing but love and respect.
10. What is your favourite part of the Chads ground and why?
The scenic view from the ground overlooking the church, the dream boundary size for a batter, and the new clubhouse.
11. What one thing would you change about the club?
Given the packed summer schedule, this might be challenging, but I'd love to see more inter-club matches, similar to the winter league. Perhaps a mini-league with player auctions or a draft system, considering the immense talent within the club, could be organised over a "Super Chaddy" weekend.
